5bbl (barrel) beer brewing equipment typically includes a mash tun, lauter tun, brew kettle, fermenters, and a chiller. The mash tun is where the crushed grains are mixed with hot water, creating a sugary liquid called wort. The lauter tank is used in the brewing process to separate the liquid wort from the spent grains after the mash process. The brew kettle is where the wort is boiled with hops and other ingredients to add flavor and bitterness. The fermenters are where the wort is cooled and yeast is added to begin the fermentation process, which converts sugars into alcohol. The chiller is used to quickly cool the wort after boiling to prepare it for fermentation. Other equipment that may be included are pumps, valves, hoses, temperature controllers and a CIP station.
